Barack Obama was not the first

to run a campaign on the platform of change. Around AD 30 a man began a relentless personal crusade to rid the world of religion and to replace it with something more personal...we'll call it a relationship. This man went into the places of worship of that day, rearranged the furniture, removed members and renounced almost every tradition that they had. This man was a change agent, a radical...a revolutionary. This man was Jesus Christ.

Flash forward to 2009. The church today has once again become more interested in the ritual than the relationship. We have attached our identity to a building, rather than the builder and have disregarded Jesus'command to "go tell" and decided that the world should 'come and see!'

America is currently at the crossroads of change, not only politically and culturally, but spiritually as well. Millions of outsiders are mentally and emotionally disengaging from Christianity. Some Christians respond to this downturn by promoting a less offensive faith. They hijack the image of Jesus and portray Him as an open-minded, big-hearted, and never-offended-anyone moral teacher.

That is NOT the kind of change that Christianity needs! Jesus taught remarkably tough truths about human beings and about sin. One cannot read passages like Revelation 19 (where His second coming is one part glorious and one part dangerous), or look at His time on earth (where He opposed religious leaders and spoke bluntly about people's spiritual fractures) and not see a strong, righteous side of Jesus.

So, what is the correct response to see change within Christianity?
